2021 SoriBeat Showcase

Client: Korean Performing Arts Institute of Chicago

Tools: MiriCanvas

Date: Summer 2021

Throughout 2021, the covid-10 pandemic was a real threat and the future of performing arts seemed uncertain. That is why KPAC threw many of its resources into creating virtual performances, this time to showcase the hard work of students and community members who had remained committed in the face of that uncertainty, wearing masks and social distancing during class.

I did not design any inserts or edit any video for this project. I did, however, work with students to help them prepare short speaking segments before some of their pieces. I helped coordinate students’ recording schedules and scripts. I asked them to write their own scripts beforehand, revised them for accuracy and readability, and coached them through their recording sessions. I even have my own speaking segment (Part 2 at 14:30)!

I designed the poster, as well as matching Instagram tiles and cover images/thumbnails for the videos. We wound up not using the 2nd and 3rd cover images, however. The three images looked too similar, which stunted views. We learned that using distinct thumbnails was more likely to draw more views.
