About

Gina Choi received her B.A. in Music from Cornell University, where she was able to explore her curiosity and develop her passion for Korean drumming outside of her coursework through Shimtah, a student-run and led Korean drumming group. She went on to earn her M.A. in Ethnomusicology with a focus on Korean drumming from the University of British Columbia, and then briefly served as a tour manager and translator for Korean percussionist Kim So Ra. From 2020 to 2024, she served as the Program Coordinator at the Korean Performing Arts Institute of Chicago, where she gained experience teaching, writing grants, translating content, designing posters and programs, and planning and coordinating events. Now, she wants to share her skills and expertise with developing artists and organizations to help them thrive and ultimately create a healthier, more vibrant ecosystem of Korean music activity in the United States.
